Packaging Industry case study
Recycle process for packaging industry industry
Issue
A large distribution centre used a waste collection service to deal with the large amounts of polypropylene packaging materials. The monthly cost to the distribution centre of using this service took a significant amount out of their budget. They didn’t want the recurring expense of using this service, but due to the rate at which used packaging material builds up at their site they had to suffer the cost.
Exporting Material
The collection of the PP packaging materials was arranged with a licensed waste carrier, and the haulier delivered the load to our recycling facility. At every step of the process of handling and transporting the plastic waste materials we deal with, we are fully compliant with all relevant regulations at all times. This process is carried out in the most ethically way possible to ensure the maximum recyclability of the polymers.
Consultation
The business reached out to us here at Pakire Polymers to find out what we could do for them. We conducted a thorough site audit to get a clear understanding of how their business operates and how we can tailor their waste management solutions to them. We informed them of the value of their waste materials and advised them of their options; we suggested that we could buy their waste from them to recycle it at our facility. The client agreed with our proposal, at which point prices were negotiated and a purchase order was issued.
Output
We processed the PP packaging materials at our state-of-the-art recycling facility, and we were able to achieve a high-yield of premium-quality recycled PP pellet. We were able to have this pellet manufactured into new packaging materials for the business to use in their operations. With Pakire Polymers, the distribution centre was able to turn a monthly expense into a monthly revenue stream and was able to move their business in a more sustainable direction.
