Automotive Industry case study
Recycle process for automotive industry
Issue
A major car manufacturer was running a car scrappage scheme and had an excessive amount of damaged and unusable polypropylene car parts. These were mostly PP bumpers, cladding, exterior trim and interior panels.
Exporting Material
We arranged the collection of the PP scrap material with a licensed waste carrier; the haulier brought the load to our plastic recycling facility. At every step of the process of handling and transporting the plastic waste materials we deal with, we are fully compliant with all relevant regulations at all times. This process is carried out in the most ethically way possible to ensure the maximum recyclability of the polymers.
Consultation
The car manufacturer contacted Pakire Polymers to arrange a site audit, and after a thorough assessment we were able to produce a comprehensive inventory of their waste and advise on the best course of action. We suggested that we could buy the scrap PP car parts from them to recycle and repurpose; once this was agreed prices were negotiated and a purchase order was issued.
Output
We processed the scrap PP car parts in our state-of-the-art recycling facility where we were able to achieve a high yield of premium-quality, structurally consistent PP pellet. The pellet produced was then put back into the automotive industry; it was used to create new car parts which were then sold back to the car manufacturer. Pakire Polymers helped the client achieve a more sustainable solution for their waste materials, while also saving them the expense of paying for a waste collection service.
